Data Restriction Using Parameters

Data Restriction Using Parameters

As a super administrator, you can restrict the set of parameter values available to individual users. This ensures that each user can select only from the values assigned to them. This feature enforces user-level data security and visibility policies.

Example

If user Tom is assigned Central region and Western region, he will only see and be able to select those values. Similarly, user John will only see Eastern region and Alaska region if assigned accordingly.

This restriction applies automatically at report runtime, ensuring users can only access data relevant to them.

Behavior

  • When Data Restriction is applied to a parameter object, the default values defined in the parameter object are not considered during Query Object execution or in the report output.

  • The system will instead apply the values configured at the Manage User level.

Notes

  • This feature is accessible only to Super Admin users.

  • It is useful when implementing role-based access control or data visibility constraints.

  • To apply restrictions, navigate to the user management interface and configure allowed parameter values per user.
