Geographical Information System (GIS) Maps

Geographical Information System (GIS) Maps

Intellicus supports Geographic Information System (GIS) maps that provide advanced capabilities for spatial analytics using interactive visualizations. These maps help users derive location intelligence for better decision-making across domains such as marketing, operations, and supply chain logistics.

With GIS maps in Intellicus, you can:

  • Zoom and pan across the map for detailed exploration.

  • Drill down to other reports or external URLs.

  • View detailed information through interactive balloons on data points.

GIS mapping enables users to visualize, explore, and analyze location-based data to uncover patterns, trends, and relationships that may not be visible in other types of reports.

Mapping Geographic Data

Intellicus allows report designers to map data points using geographic inputs, such as:

  • Street addresses

  • Zip codes

  • Cities, counties, states

  • Countries

Designers can also apply color coding to different areas on the map based on the underlying data—for example, to show sales performance across regions or the impact of an event such as property value changes.

Geolocation Lookup Capabilities

Intellicus supports automatic geolocation lookup to retrieve:

  • Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude)

  • Geospatial attributes such as country, state, city, zip code, and IP address

To enable geolocation lookup, you must:

  1. Create a GIS Lookup connection (e.g., MaxMind or another REST-based lookup provider) on the Query Object screen.

  2. Provide the required connection details such as REST URI, access key, username, and password.

Map Rendering Requirements

To render GIS maps in Intellicus, the following files must be available at the path:
ReportEngine\config\maps\GIS

Required files:

  • MapProviderInfo.json

  • gisConf.json

  • Role-specific CSV files containing spatial data

  • GeoJSON files (required for heat map rendering)

Lookup Provider Requirements

You must have a working connection to a geolocation service such as MaxMind or any other supported provider.
